Had numb arm, after a couple days decide to see Dr. Wilson. While sitting in waiting room overheard nurses saying Dr. Wilson would be leaving at 10:30 for the weekend (its Friday)....fine, appointment was at 9:00. She did the normal stuff, and sent me for x-rays. Then sent me for an offsite CT scan roughly around 10:00. Dr. Wilson says once the results were back she'd contact me that same day....so I'm thinking hmmmm. I haul it and get the CT scan, call them back and lo and behold she's gone for the weekend. Surprise!! Tuesday rolls around and still haven't heard from them. So I call....lady says she'll speak to Dr. Wilson and get back with me. They call back later in the day and want to set me up for a CT scan to figure out what's going on with my headaches....WHAT! facepalm. So I explain that I was there for a numb arm and had already had a CT scan...puts me on hold. Lady comes back says she'll set up an appointment with a neurologist and call me back. Never heard from them again.
My husband has come here multiple times and I am incredibly disappointed. He was having incredibly serious symptoms and Dr Hightower barely payed him any attention and saw him for maybe 3 minutes. After he went to the hospital from being so ill and came back, from what the doctor was recommending it was clear he hadn’t even looked at his hospital records (was recommending tests done that were already done, etc). Took more blood and still have not heard back. Very scary to think some people could have very serious things going on that are just quickly overlooked.
The staff are pleasant and friendly so the 2 stars are strictly for them. My Doctor however, Dr. Richard Hightower, not so much. He's about as attentive to my needs as my ex-wife. Went through my physical in a matter of minutes and when I asked about specific std prevention he never addressed my concerns. He didn't even look at me! He was filling out paperwork the whole time so he could get me out. I've never felt like he was attentive to me and should have changed doctors many years ago. I'm 34 and many of his patients are older but I hope they receive much better care than I have. I DO NOT recommended Dr. Hightower if you are looking for personable and attentive care.
The worst experience I ever had. They don't provide complete medical and administrative assistance/attention. The medical assistants and nurses are very rude and do not provide any guidance. You need to be very tolerant to get what you need and for what you pay! (which is a lot of $) If you come here just don't take it personal because they do.
I am not sure what is going on with the Pooler location however, it has gone on for far to long not to be addressed by the Practice Manager. Both my parents, my husband and I all see doctors at this location. There are constant issues with prescriptions not being electronically submitted, usually takes 3 or so phone calls to get done and/or get it done right. The doctors have obviously over booked to compensate for the decline in $$ due to new Health Care laws. The last few times I have been, the doctor is behind schedule by at least an hour. I feel like my time is not valued - I would be fired if I were over an hour late to 3 appointments with the same person. I like my doctor - I have been a patient of his for nearly a decade! I like his nurse, Jennifer - she is a sweetheart. I like the ladies in the lab - Phyllis is great! Regretfully, I am in the process of looking for another doctor.
